Hi there, and welcome to my website. I’m Renai LeMay, an award-winning technology journalist based in Sydney, Australia.
Currently, I work as the News Editor at ZDNet Australia, Australia’s leading online source of business technology news and information. In this role I am responsible for managing the site’s daily news agenda and newsroom, with a team of experienced reporters. This doesn’t just entail writing and editing news articles, but also feature articles, blogs and commentary pieces.
In addition I work on multimedia content such as photos, podcasts and videos. ZDNet Australia is published by CNET Networks Australia, which is part of the international division of CBS Interactive.
I also run a hobby site, Keeping the Door, which is devoted to science fiction and fantasy books. Here I write news about the fantasy and science fiction book scene and review books. It’s an out-of-work activity that reveals how obsessive a reader I am :) I only started the site in July 2009, so I’m not quite sure just yet exactly which direction it’ll go in, but I think it’ll be an entertaining one, no matter what happens.
In my previous role I was a daily technology news reporter for The Australian Financial Review, the nation’s premier business paper. In this role I was one of the main journalists reporting news and conducting investigative journalism for The AFR on Australia’s information and telecommunications industries, as well as any other issues related to technology that may come up.
The AFR is published by the business division of Fairfax Media, Australia’s largest newspaper group and one of its largest media companies in general.
I also regularly contributed to Fairfax’s MIS Magazine, which is Australia’s premier publication for chief information officers and IT managers, as well as other Fairfax business publications such as AFR Boss and the MISAustralia.com website.
Before joining The AFR I spent several years working as a news journalist, and later as a senior journalist, for ZDNet Australia.
My articles also appeared on other CNET Networks publications such as CNET News.com, CNET.com.au, ZDNet UK and Builder AU, as well as affiliated websites such as that of The New York Times.
I have also worked as a journalist in the early years of this decade for the australia.internet.com family of technology websites, as well as architectual and home magazines such as Architectural + Interior Specifier and Home Buyers and Renovators Magazine.
I hold a English and Government and International Relations degree from the University of Sydney, and have worked in Australia’s IT industry as a systems analyst and administrator. I have studied Business Information Technology at the University of NSW.
